| 2011 MRNISO Fall Conference
The Midwest Regional Network for Intervention with Sex Offenders (MRNISO) is
proud to announce our 2011 Fall Conference featuring Dr. Anna Salter. Attached is a
brochure and registration form for the event to be held on Friday, 10/7/11.
The conference will cover a variety of topics regarding sexual and violent
offenders. It will cover two major issues regarding child pornography possessors:
1) how many also have committed hands on offenses and 2) whether or not child
pornography possession is a valid indicator of pedophilia. This workshop will
also look at the data on empirically supported treatment components. Treatment
programs typically include a number of interventions including relapse prevention,
empathy programs, deviant arousal control, and programs to address antisocial attitudes
and beliefs. This section will concentrate on which treatment components have been
found to reduce recidivism and which have not and should be abandoned or at least
reduced. Third, the program will include information on the major treatment
methods employed today: relapse prevention and the good lives model. The two
will be compared in terms of data on efficacy, target goals, and methods of
achieving those goals. Finally, this workshop will address the cognitions of
violent offenders. Violence is often thought to be related either to impulse
control or to violent cognitions. This workshop will address particularly the
different types of cognitions that support violence, their frequency and the impact.
Until 7/1/11, participants can take part in our Early Bird Registration, which
includes 2011-2012 membership into MRNISO for only $125. This year’s Fall
Conference will be held at the Fishers Conference Center which is located at: 9775
North by Northeast Blvd, Fishers, Indiana 46307.
